Live Stream Recording: WebStorm’s Power User Manual

Webinars

The recording from the WebStorm’s Power User Manual live stream is now available on the JetBrains YouTube channel!

In this live stream, two WebStorm Power Users, Margaux Flores and Dave Stewart, shared some of their favorite features and tricks that they use in their day-to-day work. Whether you are just starting out with WebStorm or you have been using it for a while, you’ll find something interesting.

We’d also like to share answers to some of the questions that were asked during the live stream:

Are WebStorm features available in PhpStorm and other JetBrains IDEs?

Yes, WebStorm’s features are available in PhpStorm, as well as in PyCharm Professional, IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate, and other IntelliJ-based IDEs. To get some features you might need to install a plugin, but there will be no difference between how they work in WebStorm and other IDEs.

What test frameworks does WebStorm support?

With WebStorm, you can run and debug JavaScript unit tests using Mocha, Karma, Jest, Protractor, and Cucumber.js. You can find more information about testing in WebStorm on our documentation page.

Our live stream guests mentioned that they mostly use Jest.

What plugins, if any, do you usually use with WebStorm?

As our guests noted, you don’t really need to install plugins to start working with WebStorm – all the core functionality is available out of the box. But if you want to customize your environment and expand its functionality, we’ve published a detailed blog post with our most popular plugins. All plugins can be installed from Preferences / Settings | Plugins or the Plugins tab on the Welcome screen. To explore the full list of available plugins, visit our plugin repository.

Our guests identified a couple of their favorite plugins as well. Margaux likes to track her productivity within the IDE, and for that she uses the Code Time plugin, and Dave enjoys the Quokka plugin for rapid prototyping.

We hope you enjoy the live stream and discover something new! If you have any ideas about other topics you’d like us to cover, please share them in the comments below.
